Wie Gwang-Bog

Abstract
The objective of this study is to support materials to assist a development of a health education program in the elementary school by analyzing factors and relationships that affect the self-efficacy and health promo¡¯ ,n bchavlor in elementary school children. This study surveyed for 545 elementary children in three elementary schools, Daegu Metropolitan City, and other three elementary schools, Gyeongsang-bukdo, and the survey was performed from Feb 3, 2005 to Feb. 19, 2005. The degree of the self-efficacy, which was measured using a specific score for 12 items, was the average of 34.17 points out of 48 points, and the degree of the health promotion behavior, which was measured using a specific score for 29 items, was the average of 86.58 points out of 116 points. The comprehensibility in the results of multiple regression analysis using the factor that affects the self-efflcacy was 29.5%. In addition, the significantly affected factors in the number of family member (p<0.01), father¡¯s academic background (p<0.05), level of family life (p<0.01), health Interest of parent (p<0.05), satisfaction of school life (p<0.01), school record (p<0.01), existence of close friends (p<0.01), existence of respectable teachers (p<0.01), and family harmony (p<0.01) statistically presented significant results. The comprehensibility in the results of multiple regression analysis using the factor that affects the health promotion behavior was 40.9%. In addition, the significantly affected factors in the level of family life (p<0.01), health interest of parent (p<0.01), satisfaction of school life (p<0.01), school record (p<0.01), existence of close friends (p<0.05), existence of respectable teachers (p<0.01), and family harmony (p<0.01) statistically presented significant results. As a result, it is evident that the improvement of the self-efficacy in the age of elementary school is closely related to the improvement of the degree of the performance of health promotion behavior. Thus, it is necessary to develop a systematic health education program in order to increase the health promotion behavior in the increase in the self-efficacy of the student in person by planning emotional stabilization and family harmony in home with increased social interests for handicapped family, and by increasing the life adaptation and satisfaction in school.
